About Us

 Welcome!

Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fremont County achieves that mission by providing:
  • A safe, positive environment to learn and grow
  • Supportive relationships with caring, adult professionals
  • Life-enhancing programs and character development experiences
  • Opportunities and FUN

Why We Exist

In every community, many young people are left to find their own recreation and companionship after school. An increasing number of youth are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.

Boys & Girls Club of Fremont County offers youth a place to belong. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of young people by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, and influence.

Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. It is the place where great futures are started each and every day.

How We Help

While youth are at the Club, they engage in evidence-based programs focused on three priority outcomes:
  • Academic Success
  • Good Character & Citizenship
  • Healthy Lifestyles
Members also develop positive relationships with caring adult role models. And perhaps most importantly, they have fun.

We provide a snack each day at each Club, as well as a two meals at the Cañon K-7th Club on no-school Fridays.

Additionally, after school transportation is available for members from some RE-1 schools. Give us a call to find out when and where we pick-up at your school.

 Our History

We opened our doors in June of 2011, with 8 middle school students. By the end of the year we expanded to high schoolers, due to demand, and had 113 members total. Our Cañon Club continues to grow its programs and membership.

The Florence Club was opened in the fall of 2015 and was adjoined to Fremont Middle School. It then moved to Florence Jr/Sr High School from 2019-2021. It was closed due to COVID-related issues.

Our first K-5 Club opened September 25, 2017, at Mountain View Core Knowledge Charter School. This pilot program served MVCK students after school and on Fridays. The program continued through the summer as a day camp open to all Fremont County kids going into 1st-6th grade.

In September of 2018, our Cañon Club was adapted to serve K-12th graders, housing all programs under one roof. This move ended our site at MVCK and allowed us to serve more youth.

A new Club at Fremont Elementary School in Florence was opened in January 2020. It served youth ages 6-12 after school and on Fridays. This Club was closed in March 2020, due to COVID-19.

Our organization opened a temporary site at Canon Exploratory in March 2020, to serve youth of essential workers. We were one of four Clubs in Colorado to remain open during the pandemic

The 4th Street Teen Club was rebranded and opened in August 2020, giving teens their own space as the K-7 population moved into Canon City Middle School, and currently Canon Exploratory School.

In 2023, Boys & Girls Club managed to obtain ownership of the 4th Street Teen Club/Office Location (pictured above). This allowed for a building expansion to house our Cañon K-7 Club.
